Hakone Före offers a peaceful getaway, influenced by the calmness of Sweden and the cultural heritage of Hakone. The rebranding highlights a unity of innovation, cultural appreciation, and nature.



Learning Outcomes

The project taught me valuable lessons about refining designs through iteration. We spent time perfecting the logo and postcards, showing the importance of persistence. Creativity and experimentation were crucial, even when mistakes occurred. By establishing consistent design patterns, we could quickly apply them to posters, zines, and the website.




Logo
The Hakone Före logo draws inspiration from a fusion of Swedish and Japanese design elements. The Swedish word "före" translates to "forward," symbolizing the brand's innovative resort experience. The logo features an abstract representation of "H" and "F" enclosed in a shape reminiscent of Japanese stamps, reflecting the location of Hakone Före.




Spatial Design
The spatial design of Hakone Före incorporates brand elements throughout the hotel, with graphics showcasing the colors of the forest. Its simple, modern architecture seamlessly merges with the natural beauty of the surrounding forest, evoking the ambiance of resorts in Northern Europe.





Postcards
The postcard designs of Hakone Före feature colors inspired by the surrounding forest in Hakone. The rounded patterns are derived from the main pattern of the logo, adding a cohesive visual identity. These postcards invite guests to join the stylish world of "small gathering" relaxation with their loved ones, reflecting the unique experience offered by Hakone Före.




Collaterals
The collaterals for the hotel amenities at Hakone Före were meticulously designed to maintain consistency in color, pattern, and typography treatment. Each amenity reflects the concept of "small gathering," incorporating rounded shapes and abstract patterns inspired by nature, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere for guests.




Lookbook
The lookbook for Hakone encapsulates everything about the hotel, from amenities to FAQs, along with images and descriptions of the hotel area and attractions. Graphical elements and image treatments are curated to align with the brand's aesthetic.
